Leap of Faith

Yes, there are times when you are going to be asked to trust. To make a leap of faith. Believe in something larger than yourself.

You may not "stick" your landing or score 10's on the judges' card, but the fact you did it enhances your life exponentially.

And if you're thinking those ducks never have to deal with life's little "tempests" or "ill winds" take a look...

Notice how they simply regroup and keep moving in the same direction they were headed? Let us pursue our goals with the same perseverance.

...guilty, as charged.

The view has been expressed by some that this site is overly optimistic, childishly naive. I ask those that feel this way if they have read the very first post; Aurora, Co. 7-20-12? That wasn't an academic exercise. Every feeling expressed was an emotion I have experienced. I have denounced God, raged at the injustice of Life. The only answer forthcoming wasn't question-specific or a counter-argument, simply a statement: "This is My beloved son, in whom I am well pleased." Where does one go from there? How does one integrate that response? Why would that be considered an answer at all?

This site is, among other things, a response to that "answer." It is an acknowledgement of the "Land of Desolation." It is a response to the reality of Evil. Yet, it is above all, a realization that Evil has no claim on me...or you. It is fact many never have that realization. It is true that many get caught in the quagmire. And sadly, I have seen the results of those who don't find their way out.

JRR Tolkien penned in The Lord of the Rings (through Gandalf); "Despair is only for those who see the end beyond all doubt." That is the crux of the matter. We don't see the end beyond all doubt. What may seem an abomination, as inexcusable or unjustifiable may, in fact, lead us exactly where we need to go and save for that abomination, may never have traveled to. That isn't optimistic or naive, thats the reality of any situation. I choose to emphasis that reality. However, if you see that as the height of naivete, then I am guilty, as charged.

The Impossible Dream

To dream the Impossible Dream
To fight the unbeatable foe
To bear with unbearable sorrow
To run where the brave dare not go

To right the unrightable wrong
To love pure and chaste from afar
To try when your arms are too weary
To reach the unreachable star

This is my quest, to follow that star
No matter how hopeless, no matter how far
To fight for the right, without question or pause
To be willing to march into Hell, for a Heavenly cause

And I know, if I only be true, to this glorious quest
That my heart will lie peaceful and calm
When I'm laid to my rest...

And the world will be better for this
That one man, scorned and covered with scars
Still strove, with his last ounce of courage
To reach...the unreachable star.
